Who can apply for benefits?

Any residential household with a valid electricity connection in their own name can apply for benefits under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria set by the government, including sanctioned load capacity and rooftop space availability.

The entire process — from application approval to installation and net-metering — usually takes 10 to 30 days, depending on DISCOM approvals, site readiness, and subsidy disbursement.

Businesses are not eligible for the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. However, they can apply under the State Net Metering Policy to avail benefits of on-grid solar as per the State Electricity Board regulations.

You will require any previous energy bills for eligibility verification, along with identity documents and a bank account.

There is no age limit to apply for the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. However, for availing solar financing/loans, applicants are generally required to be under 65 years of age.

1. Initial Analysis & Site Inspection (Day 1)

  • DISCOM provides Technical Feasibility Approval (TFR) after inspection/verification.

  • Your project is now subsidy-approved.

4. Installation of Solar System (Day 4–6)

  • Our skilled team installs panels, inverter, wiring, and mounting structures within 3 days max.

  • Off-Grid/Hybrid systems (with batteries) also completed in the same timeframe.

  • Strict MNRE quality and safety standards followed.

5. Net-Metering & Commissioning (Day 7–10)

  • DISCOM installs the net meter and synchronizes the system with the grid.

  • Performance testing and handover done.

6. Final Inspection & Generation Report (Day 11–15)

  • DISCOM issues a generation certificate after verifying output.

  • This report is uploaded to the portal for subsidy release.

7. Subsidy Disbursement (Day 16–30)

  • Subsidy is directly transferred to your bank account via DBT.

  • Completion kit (manuals, warranties, monitoring access) is handed over.
